How it's made

Grown, not synthesized.

Instead of relying on traditional animal-based leather, which involves harsh chemicals, we grow our own cellulose-based "leather-like" mats and enrobe the mat with certifiable bio-base materials without plastic, PVC, polyurethane and more. We’d love to tell you more, but that would give away our carefully held secrets.

Here is what we can tell you:

1. The growing and processing is done entirely in Oregon.
2. No harsh chemicals are used in any step of the process, relying on plant-based, natural materials to turn our cellulose mat into an intentional leather.
3. All natural pigments are used to achieve our durable colors.
4. USDA testing is underway, and we expect to achieve 95%+ bio-base, far greater than our competition in alternative leathers.

Our innovative material is naturally strong due to the formation of a natural interlinkage created through our growing method. Not only are additional interfacing or backings not required on our material, the durability and strength created is from natural bio-mass and not petrochemicals.
